Smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has launched a smartwatch targeted at children. On Sunday, the company introduced the ‘Xiaomi MiTu Kids Phone Watch 7’ in the Chinese market.
Xiaomi had previously released smartwatches for children, but this time, the new product includes some unique features. The main feature is GPS tracking, which helps parents enhance their children’s safety.
The smartwatch also offers video call capabilities and a long-lasting battery backup system. It is priced at 399 Yuan (approximately seven thousand Nepali Rupees). The company has opened online pre-orders for this smartwatch in China starting today.
What are its additional features?
Compared to other smartwatches, this one includes several advanced smart features. Designed specifically for children, the smartwatch emphasizes safety. It includes a nine-layer ‘Safety Positioning System,’ which the company claims can easily cover the locations of over four thousand shopping stores and railway stations across the country. Additionally, it has an AI-enhanced tracking feature to accurately determine the child’s location.
Parents can set up an alert system to notify them if their child goes beyond a predefined area. The smartwatch can record location history for up to 90 days.
The smartwatch features a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, enabling clear video calls. It supports 4G LTE and has a 1.4-inch TFT display, 48 MB of RAM, and 256 MB of internal storage.
It is equipped with a 950 mAh battery, which is designed to last long with the inclusion of ‘low power chips’ and an ‘optimized power-saving algorithm.’ The smartwatch is waterproof up to 20 meters and includes some sports tracking features for children. It also has a voice assistant feature.
