Nepal will participate in the ACC Women’s Asia Cup to be held in Sri Lanka this month.
As the ninth edition of the tournament takes place, Nepal will be participating for the third time. Previously, Nepal took part in the fifth edition held in China in 2012 and the sixth edition held in Thailand in 2016.
The ninth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup features the participation of eight nations. Teams with Test status in Asia, except Afghanistan, are directly qualified for this tournament, while the remaining four teams are the top four from the ACC Women’s Premier Cup.
The eight participating teams are divided into two groups. Nepal is in Group A, which includes seven-time champion India, along with Pakistan and the UAE. Group B comprises Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Malaysia.
Nepal will begin the tournament by playing against the UAE on July 19 (4th of Shrawan). The match between Nepal and the UAE will be held at Rangiri Dambulla Cricket Stadium at 2:15 PM Nepali time.
In the second game of the tournament, Nepal will play against Pakistan on July 21 (6th of Shrawan). The match between Nepal and Pakistan will be held at Rangiri Dambulla Cricket Stadium at 7:15 PM Nepali time. In this game against Pakistan, Nepal will play under floodlights for the first time.
In the third and final group stage match, Nepal will play against India on July 23 (8th of Shrawan). The match between Nepal and India will be held at Rangiri Dambulla Cricket Stadium at 7:15 PM Nepali time.
If Nepal remains in the top two in the group stage, they will play on July 26 (11th of Shrawan). The winners of the semifinals will compete on July 28 (13th of Shrawan).
