Nepali superstar cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane will start playing in the T20 league in Canada today. The Global T20 League in Canada is starting today. In the league, Sandeep is affiliated with the Vancouver Knights. The inaugural match of the fourth edition of the Global T20 League will begin at 1:45 AM Nepali time on Friday at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Canada.
In the first match of the league, Sandeep’s team, the Vancouver Knights, will play against the Toronto Nationals today. In the last five matches between these two teams, Vancouver has won three games and Toronto has won two. The captain of the Nepali national cricket team, Rohit Paudel, is also affiliated with Toronto. However, due to visa delays, he will miss this first match.
Similarly, another Nepali all-rounder, Dipendra Airee, is also affiliated with Sandeep’s team. However, he will also miss tonight’s match as he only departed for Canada today due to visa delays. Sandeep, who had reached Canada a few days earlier, will play in this match. The Knights, which include Sandeep and Dipendra, also have players like Usman Khawaja and Mohammad Amir. On the other hand, Toronto, with Rohit, includes players like Colin Munro and Saad Bin Zafar.

Like the previous season, six teams – Montreal Tigers, Surrey Jaguars, Vancouver Knights, Brampton Wolves, Toronto Nationals, and the new team Bangla Tigers Mississauga, replacing Mississauga Panthers, will compete in the 2024 edition of GT20 Canada. A total of 25 matches will be held over the next two and a half weeks, with each team playing seven matches in the round-robin phase. The top four teams at the end of the league stage will advance to the knockouts or playoffs. When the league stage ends on August 6, the GT20 Canada playoffs, including the eliminator, two qualifiers, and the final, will begin.
The tournament, organized by Cricket Canada, will feature local Canadian talents as well as some renowned international cricket stars like David Warner, Marcus Stoinis, and Sunil Narine.
