The 2024 Women’s Premier League (WPL) kicks off with a showdown between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday, February 23rd. This marks a rematch of the 2023 final, where Mumbai secured victory over Delhi by seven wickets at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium.
In the second edition of the Women’s Premier League, a total of 22 matches are scheduled, including the Eliminator and the final. The tournament will be split between two venues: the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The initial 11 games will take place in Bengaluru, with the remaining 11 matches slated for Delhi.
The format for WPL 2024 mirrors that of the previous year. The five franchises will compete against each other twice during the league stage. The team finishing atop the points table after the league matches will secure a direct berth in the final. The second and third-placed teams will contest in the Eliminator. The victor of the Eliminator will then challenge the league leaders in the final showdown.
