2024 Copa America in the USA: venues, dates, schedule, group stage draw, and fixtures

As part of a new “strategic collaboration agreement” established by CONMEBOL and CONCACAF, the United States will host the 2024 Copa America, which will once again feature six guest nations. With an incredible group stage draw, we’re all set to go this summer.Six teams from the CONCACAF zone will compete in the tournament together with all ten CONMEBOL members.

In order to commemorate the South American championship’s 100 years, Copa America last visited the United States in the summer of 2016.

The CONCACAF heavyweights, Mexico and the USMNT, did not receive an automatic bid to Copa America 2024, but they were not required to qualify for the tournament back in 2016. They will need to win the 2023–24 Nations League in order to be eligible as one of six CONCACAF teams. The other four CONCACAF berths were previously granted through a variety of regional competitions and qualifying playoffs.

The 2024 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup will feature eight CONCACAF nations and four CONMEBOL teams, demonstrating the expansion of the CONMEBOL-CONCACAF alliance into the women’s game.

For USMNT, what does it mean?

First and foremost, it entails engaging in more intense, competitive gaming in between World Cups. Over the years, the USMNT has played friendlies against countries like Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and other South American countries; however, at the moment, its only competitive matches are against CONCACAF competition, which includes World Cup and Gold Cup qualifying.

All participating national teams will benefit from the tournament’s schedule, which coincides with the halfway point of the 2026 World Cup, which will also be staged in the United States (as well as Mexico and Canada), and the halfway point of EURO 2024 for European countries.
